WONDERFUL WILDLIFE DAY
Come along to Creggan Country Park on Wednesday 31st August and take part in a fun filled day dedicated to local wildlife!
Creggan Country Park will be host to a fun filled family day (and night!) focusing on wildlife so you get the most out of the last day of the summer holidays!
Learn more about local wildlife from various environmental groups including Derry City Council's Biodiversity and Recycling officers, NI Bat Group, Groundwork NI and RSPB.
Volunteer Now will also be on hand to provide information to visitors on volunteering opportunities throughout the North West.
From 12noon – 4pm visitors can take part in environment games, guided walks, wildlife treasure hunt, planting activities, butterfly, moth and wildflower guides and children’s composting workshop.
Face painters and balloon modellers will also be there to add to the fun!
Families can also experience the new Heritage trail at Creggan Country Park, a treasure hunt style walking route complete with picnic areas and willow domes which provides the perfect setting for enjoying lunch in the great outdoors. Bring along your own waste free picnic, with the chance of learning about reducing and recycling your waste.
The fun doesn't end there! From 9.30pm-11pm, take part in a bat walk and explore nocturnal wildlife at Creggan Country Park with the NI Bat Group. Advanced booking is essential for the evening event.
Creggan Country Park provides an ideal location for families to get up close to wildlife as it is host to buzzards, hedgehogs, bats, foxes, butterflies and moths.
Wonderful Wildlife Day is a joint partnership event funded by Derry City Council’s Greencare programme and Volunteer Now
