The Park After Dark Family Event

Come along to Creggan Country Park with your family and explore the amazing world of bats!

Bats have suffered from some pretty bad publicity over the years, portrayed as the pet of choice for baddies everywhere. Creggan Country Park in partnership with
the Northern Ireland Bat Group is hoping to change our perception of these
intelligent creatures with a free information
evening at Creggan Country Park on Friday 29th
October starting 7pm
. The event will involve a short talk by a
member of the Northern Ireland Bat Group followed by a spooky tour in the dark
of Creggan Country Park using bat detecting equipment (weather permitting). For
young bat enthusiasts there will be loads of art and craft activities including
bat kite making, and bat masks. Refreshments will also be provided.

The Park after Dark event ties in closely with the Local Biodiversity Action Plan for the Derry City Council area. Various species have been given “priority” status in
this plan including otters, bees, purple moor grass and bats. Species
featured on the priority list are at risk from population decline and measures
therefore must be taken to protect them.

The Event is FREE. Prior Booking is essential. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Park after Dark event is organised as part of Creggan Country Park’s Active Families Programme.
