All Welcome – Over 40 Events Nationwide!
The Convergence Festival is Ireland’s longest running sustainable living festival and this year there are more than 40 events taking place across the country from 16th - 27th June. The theme is Green Jobs & Community Resilience. There are films, forums, workshops and much more all promoting and celebrating sustainable living.
With events in Dublin, Tipperary, Sligo, Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick and Westmeath there is something for everyone, so come along and get involved! Most events are free and all workshops are free for Green Works students.
Thanks to the EPA, Comhar, Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, SEAI and all of our other stakeholders and partners.
The Green Works Team
Dublin events include 'Vital Viewing' documentaries, free workshops, cycling events, the Community Garden Forum and... find the full list here.
The first big event is the two-day business forum, Working the Green Economy. This is the perfect place to start for anyone interested in working in this exciting and meaningful sector. So whether you’re looking for advice on getting your own business off the ground, want to network with like-minded people or introduce yourself to potential future employers then this is the event for you. Full detail here.
Tipperary is host to some great events this year with themes ranging from rural jobs and education to digital technology and open source hardware.
The highlight of the programme however is Totally Tipperary on Saturday 25 June. Buses are heading to Cloughjordan from both Sligo (detail) and Dublin (detail) to join this celebration of local food and culture within the historic grounds of Cloughjordan House. Food producers, food writers, food bloggers and food lovers will be converging to taste the best of what Tipperary has to offer. RTE’s Ella McSweeney (Ear to the Ground; Homegrown) and Bobby Kerr (Dragon's Den) will be on hand to facilitate debate and discussions, while the Seomra Bia Blog will feature cookery demonstrations from both worldwide food bloggers and chefs (including 10 French Michellin-star chefs) as they engage the visitor on how to use the best of local, seasonal, sustainable and fresh foods. The day's events are capped by the Asado Party with BBQ, music and dance until late.
This year’s festival is all about getting people involved and back to work and now, thanks to the Green Works programme, most events and all workshops are delivered FREE To JOBSEEKERS. Green Works is a nationwide education programme focused on upskilling jobseekers for the growing opportunities within Ireland's Green Economy. Since the programme began last November more than 2,000 students have passed through Green Works’ many doors on their way to a greener future.
With over 40 events across the country there is something for everyone. Click here for the full schedule or read on for a taste of what’s on the Convergence menu.
