We are looking for people who see themselves as catalysts for change in
their local community and who want to support others to understand the
challenges of Community Resilience. We are training people to deliver a
ground-breaking 10 module course called 'Community Resilience'.

This course has designed by Cultivate and has been successfully
delivered many times across Ireland and beyond titled ‘Community
Powerdown.’

The intention of this weekend trainers course is to build the capacity of more people to deliver the ‘Community Resilience’ course in
their own communities, as a spur for more local actions. Extensive use
of active learning methodologies, games and case studies means that the
trainer does not have to be a complete expert in the content, the role
is more to generate and sustain inspiring and challenging conversations
that in turn become a platform for action.

Trainers will be given a DVD of 10 short films, which are used in the
delivery of the learning plus two handbooks, one for the learners, and
one for the trainers themselves. The training outlines the sequence of
learning, the facilitation techniques, the methodologies utilised and
how to guide the exercises. Trainers are encouraged to work flexibly,
responding to the needs of participants within the broad design and flow
of the course, as a whole.

This training for trainers will be delivered by Davie Philip and Chris Chapman.

The course is designed not only for facilitators and coaches but anyone
interested or working in the areas of rural regeneration,
sustainability, local resilience, the environment, community
development, green business and Transition towns.

Green Works is a collaborative project of Cultivate, Nicer Training,
Syspro, and Woodrow Sustainable Solutions, funded by The Department of
Education and Skills, through the Labour Activation Fund with support
from The European Social Fund. The full Green Works programme includes
FETAC accredited Major, and Minor, awards, CPDs, craft and design
modules, and a wide range of workshops.
