Health of a nation: Cuba; how it cares for its people
Did you know that Cubans live longer than almost anyone else in the Americas? Did you know that far fewer babies die, that almost everyone has been vaccinated and that health scourges such as TB, malaria, even HIV/AIDS are rare or non-existent on the island? And that 29,000 Cuban health professionals are currently working abroad, often in countries with the worst health care?
As part of this year’s exciting Gasyard Féile, a local healthy living centre is hosting an insight into one of the world’s most fascinating health care systems. Bogside & Brandywell Health Forum has invited Dr Úna Lynch to the Bogside to enlighten festival goers as to this riveting aspect of the Cuban revolution.
The talk begins at 7.00pm in Pilot’s Row Community Centre on Monday 27th July and will be chaired by Brendan Moore, who has been refused license by the health authorities to open a community pharmacy in the Bogside.
For further information contact Tony Doherty on 71 365330. Fáilte roimh chách – all welcome and admission is free.
