The Royal Botanic Garden, Kew’s Millenium Seed Bank (MSB) has collected seed from 10% of the world’s plant species, and by 2002 aims to have a quarter of all plant diversity represented in its vaults. The MSB currently works in over 50 countries in every continent and the species it collects are dependent on local priorities. Rare, threatened and useful species generally come first. In this presentation, Dr Paul Smith, Head of the MSB explains how MSB seed collectors go about their work.Local heroes Kew poster .pdf
