Event Description

Give it some welly!

Bringing Burntollet Wood to the Faughan Valley

Thanks to grant-aid and generous public support, The Woodland Trust recently acquired 23 hectares (58 acres) of farmland, now known as Burntollet Wood. One of their largest-ever land purchases in Northern Ireland, this site has a special neighbour - that’s Ness Country Park, an Area of Special Scientific Interest, which contains remnants of rare and precious ancient woodland.

Join us at Burntollet Wood for an afternoon of tree planting on Saturday 7 November from 12 until 4pm.

Everyone is welcome; however children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wrap up warm and wear suitable sturdy footwear/welly boots. Feel free to bring your own spade!

Directions

Travelling along the A6 from Belfast to Londonderry, you will see Ness Nurseries on the right hand side of the Glenshane Road. A short distance after Ness Nurseries, take the first right turn to Ervey Wood (as marked by road signs). Follow the signs to the Ervey Wood car park. The tree planting is just a short walk away.
