Derry – Tourism Success Through Sustainability – Using Sustainability to build a world class tourism experience, 29th June 2010
Monday, May 24th, 2010 | Poster under Events, News
Tourism is important to the future of Ireland, North and South, for visitors from overseas and for visitors from our own country. Using sustainability to design and plan our offering we can offset the obvious hazards of an unsustainable business to benefiting from higher value added products that guarantee a return long into the future.
Tourism relies on all aspects of a sustainable society – from good quality environment, to good transport infrastructure, safe and welcoming communities, lower costs for energy, and high quality local food. Only by considering broader sustainability can we deliver those demands.
RealEyes Sustainability, in partnership with Ilex and Derry City Council have brought leaders from communities in Canada, Sweden, and Italy to Northern Ireland to share their stories of how sustainability has allowed them to maintain their success in tourism into the future and to host major events like the Winter Olympics.
