Introduction to Sustainable Communities
As concerns regarding over consumption and wasted resources become more immediate throughout the globe, more and more people and governments are trying to embrace a new way of thinking and acting about their future. Although the motivation for involvement varies, it often includes the desire to improve the quality of community life, to protect the environment, and to encourage individuals to participate in the decisions that affect them.
This introductory course is targeted towards community and voluntary organisations, community activists or any individual that has an interest in living and working in a more sustainable community.
The course will introduce topics such as waste and resource management, energy efficiency and renewables, sustainable self-build, green procurement and land and water use and will explore practical ways in which we can implement projects or measures within our own communities.
