The Soil Association invites anyone interested in building a thriving low carbon, sustainable food and farming movement in Northern Ireland to take part in one of the following events:
Tuesday 16th February
2pm - 5.30pm
Roy Lyttle Ltd
90 Portaferry Road
Newtownards
County Down
Saturday 20th February
10.30am - 4.00pm
Culmore Organic Farm
Kilrea
County Derry
Both gatherings will start with a farm walk, followed by a presentation and discussion of issues and potential projects. Refreshments will be provided at the first and lunch at the second.
The Soil Association thinks that the key to growing a thriving low carbon movement lies in
- inspiring and educating the public about the health, social and environmental benefits associated with organic and local food
- developing new relationships between producers and consumers that help create vibrant local food communities and a new food culture in Northern Ireland
- working with producers, processors and retailers to develop public and institutional markets for their produce in Northern Ireland and across the UK
As well as discussing the key issues facing food and farming, we would like to identify three specific project ideas that will help us to realise our common goals.
To do this we need to hear your ideas. If you possibly can, please attend one of the events below.
It could be the start of something....
