When it comes to global warming, we know that the real problem is not just fossil fuels – it is the logic of endless growth that is built into our economic system. If we don’t keep the global economy growing by at least 3% per year, it plunges into crisis. That means we have to double the size of the economy every 20 years, just to stay afloat. It doesn’t take much to realise that this imperative for exponential growth makes little sense given the limits of our finite planet.

Rapid climate change is the most obvious symptom of this contradiction, but we’re also seeing it in the form of deforestation, desertification and mass extinction, with species dying at an alarming rate as our consumption of the natural world causes their habitats to collapse. It was unthinkable to say this even 10 years ago, but today, as we become increasingly aware of these crises, it seems all too clear: our economic system is incompatible with life on this planet.

The question is what to do about it. How can we redesign the global economy to bring it in line with the principles of ecology? The most obvious answer is to stop using GDP to measure economic progress and replace it with a more thoughtful measure – one that accounts for the ecological and social impact of economic activity. Prominent economists like Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz have been calling for such changes for years and it’s time we listened.

But replacing GDP is only a first step. While it might help refocus economic policies on what really matters, it doesn’t address the main driver of growth: debt. Debt is the reason the economy has to grow in the first place. Because debt always comes with interest, it grows exponentially – so if a person, a business, or a country wants to pay down debt over the long term, they have to grow enough to at least match the growth of their debt. Without growth, debt piles up and eventually triggers an economic crisis.

Our best shot at cooling the planet might be right under our feet

One way to relieve the pressure for endless growth might be to cancel some of the debt – a kind of debt jubilee. But this would only provide a short-term fix; it wouldn’t get to the real root of the problem: that the global economic system runs on money that is itself debt.

This might sound a bit odd, but it’s quite simple. When you walk into a bank to take out a loan, you assume that the bank is lending you money it has in reserve – money that it stores somewhere in a vault, for example, collected from other people’s deposits. But that’s not how it works. Banks only hold reserves worth about 10% of the money they lend out. In other words, banks lend out 10 times more money than they actually have. This is known as fractional reserve banking.

So where does all that additional money come from? Banks create it out of thin air when they make loans – they loan it into existence. This accounts for about 90% of the money circulating in our economy right now. It’s not created by the government, as most people assume: it is created by commercial banks in the form of loans. In other words, almost every dollar that passes through our hands represents somebody’s debt. And every dollar of debt has to be paid back with interest. Because our money system is based on debt, it has a growth imperative baked into it. In other words, our money system is heating up the planet.

Once we realise this, the solution comes into view: we need banks to keep a bigger fraction of reserves behind the loans they make. This would go a long way toward diminishing the amount of debt sloshing around in our economy, helping reduce the pressure for economic growth.

But there’s an even more exciting solution we might consider. We could abolish debt-based currency altogether and invent a new money system completely free of intrinsic debt. Instead of letting commercial banks create money by lending it into existence, we could have the state create the money and then spend it into existence. New money would get pumped into the real economy instead of just going straight into financial speculation where it inflates huge asset bubbles that only benefit the mega-rich.

Abolishing debt-based currency holds the secret to getting our system off its addiction to growth

The responsibility for money creation would be placed with an independent agency that – unlike our banks – would be democratic, accountable, and transparent, so money would become a truly public good. Commercial banks would still be able to lend money at interest, but they would have to back it dollar for dollar with their own reserves. In other words, there would be a 100% reserve requirement.

This is not a fringe proposal. It has been around since at least the 1930s, when a group of economists in Chicago proposed it as a way of curbing the reckless lending that led to the Great Depression. The Chicago Plan, as it was called, made headlines again in 2012 when progressive IMF economists put it forward as a strategy for preventing the global financial crisis from recurring. They pointed out that such a system would dramatically reduce both public and private debt and make the world economy more stable.

What they didn’t notice is that abolishing debt-based currency also holds the secret to getting our system off its addiction to growth, and therefore to arresting climate change. As it turns out, reinventing our money system is crucial to our survival in the Anthropocene – at least as important as getting off fossil fuels. And this idea is already beginning to gain traction: in the UK, the campaigning group Positive Money has generated momentum around it, building on a series of excellent explanatory videos.

The idea has its enemies, of course. If we shift to a positive money system, big banks will no longer have the power to literally make money out of nothing and the rich will no longer reap millions from asset bubbles. Unsurprisingly, neither of these groups would be pleased by this prospect. But if we want to build a fairer, more ecologically sound economy, that’s a battle that we can’t be afraid to fight.

We, as people united across Yorkshire and across Britain, declare that we remain opposed to fracking in Yorkshire, in Britain, and across the world. We know that fracking carries serious risks to local people, to our health, our water, our wildlife, and contributes to climate change.

We are extremely disappointed that North Yorkshire County Council has not listened to the overwhelming wishes of the locally elected representatives of Ryedale and local people and has approved Third Energy’s application to frack in our county.

This decision is not in our name.

We know that Third Energy and their backers Barclays bank are the only ones that stand to benefit from these fracking plans. This application would put at risk Yorkshire's beautiful landscape and the tourism industry that inspires millions of visitors each year and supports thousands of jobs.

We have a positive democratic vision for Yorkshire and the UK with thriving rural economies, clean air and water, producing the green energy like solar power we need to protect our children’s future, and creating the thousands of green jobs along with it.

We urge and will support the Government to develop a balanced long term energy policy that will achieve our globally agreed climate change targets.

Today we resolve to continue to fight to remain free from fracking, to protect our communities, our beautiful countryside, our air and water, and to protect the future of the planet. We ask people across the country to join us by supporting this declaration.

Why is this important?

North Yorkshire County Council have said Yes to dangerous fracking.

This is despite the opposition of thousands of local residents, businesses and Ryedale District Council.

Fracking poses unacceptable risks to people’s health, homes and goes against everything we need to do to tackle dangerous climate change.

The people of Yorkshire want to make it clear that this decision is not in their name, and they will continue the fight against fracking. Will you stand with them?

Together, our people power has kept the UK free from fracking for 5 years now. Let’s stand with Yorkshire and make sure Britain stays frack free.

Please add your name to the declaration launched by communities across Ryedale and Yorkshire- and help keep us all safe from fracking.

This victory is a huge step for our community’s campaign to stop TTIP in its tracks. And what’s more, it’s people power that made it happen. But now we need to take this national.

Imagine if every city or county council in Ireland passed the same motion? What a powerful way to grow our campaign - people taking a stand to protect their communities from the bottom up.

Upilft is a community of over 64,000 members across every county in Ireland. If a few of us in each county follow the example of Uplift members in Clare, before we know it we could have every council taking a stand against TTIP.

Monday’s victory was a result of a local people powered campaign. Here’s how it happened:

Uplift member John contacted a local councillor to put forward the motion to declare Clare a TTIP Free Zone at a meeting of Clare County Council. Using Uplift’s new member petition site, MyUplift.ie, a petition was started and people across Clare started to support the campaign. Uplift members heard about the campaign and called their councillors asking them to support the call. [2]

John wants to pass on these words of encouragement:

“We can and must stand together in this fight against TTIP. It's a great feeling to know that there are so many of us working together.”

This people powered victory has exposed the weakness of TTIP. It has showed us that by working together locally, we can stop it in it tracks. Clare County Council is Ireland's first local authority to declare itself TTIP-Free and it won’t be the last.

The deal is called TTIP and could outlaw local authorities’ support of local businesses, allow multinational corporations to sue us if councils deny fracking permits and open up services like water, health and education to privatisation.

What’s up for grabs are the rules and regulations that force corporations to abide by standards that protect our health, our rights, our jobs, services and the environment.

These regulations for example stop corporations releasing chemicals and products into the market before they are proven to be safe.

They also make sure workers get their rights and that local communities are protected from environmental disasters.

But if TTIP goes ahead corporations will get to have a say on policies that govern our daily lives - before we or even politicians get to see them.

And if they don’t like the rules they will be able to sue governments when they make changes or bring in new policies that could potentially affect their profits.

Right now in Canada a fracking company Lone Pine Resources Inc., is suing the government for its decision to not allow fracking in Quebec. They are able to do this because of an ISDS clause in another trade deal.

In Egypt the government was sued by water company Veolia for attempting to bring in a minimum wage. Germany is being sued by Swedish energy company Vatenfall for €4.7 billion because of Germany's decision to phase out nuclear power.

TTIP also removes barriers to US companies who want to sell their products in Europe.

Right now the sale of US beef in Europe is very limited. Hormone injected beef is banned outright.

Hundreds of councils across Europe have already said they don’t want TTIP. Because of people power politicians are waking up to the threat TTIP poses and to the fact that people aren’t going to stand aside and let our democracy and rights be sold off.

TTIP - how big polluters are hijacking the world's climate future

But, it’s not perfect. Many of us are asking why the deal failed to make real progress on protecting the rights of indigenous people or tackling deforestation, and why it took so many years to get a deal in the first place.

There's one answer we keep coming back to. Governments are listening too much to powerful corporate lobbyists and not enough to ordinary citizens.

Find out about the powerful opponents we face in the struggle for our planet’s future and what we can do to stop them!

2015 is set to be the warmest year on record. People around the world are suffering deadly floods, bitter droughts, and raging forest fires like never before. One thing is clear: We desperately need to take action against climate change.

But in the struggle for our planet’s future, we are facing powerful opponents: Big polluters like ExxonMobil and Shell are lobbying hard behind closed doors to ensure that politicians will allow them to carry on business as usual, no matter what the consequences are.

And now they are about to score their biggest coup yet: TTIP.

Click here to learn about how big business is hijacking our world’s climate future and then share it with your friends!

TTIP provides big polluters with a whole toolbox to bully governments into what they want. It doesn’t only grant companies the right to sue governments over lost profits -- the trade pact will let corporations co-write regulations, so they can remove the bits they don’t like.

Years of public pressure has pushed corporations like Nestlé and Unilever to publicly support climate action. But even these companies are still part of the problem, funding lobby groups to work in the shadows for them on dodgy deals like TTIP.

That is why together with corporate watchdog Corporate Europe Observatory we’ve produced this video exposing how lobby groups are pushing their agenda with TTIP and international climate talks.

The more people know about their agenda, the more we can force corporations like Unilever to stop supporting TTIP.

Click here to learn about how big business is hijacking our world’s climate future and then share it with your friends!

Money gives corporations a voice. But, if we come together our voices can be incredibly powerful too: A whopping 3,284,289 million people from all over Europe have signed the self-organized citizens’ initiative ‘Stop TTIP’ -- it turned out to be the biggest citizens’ initiative ever!

Faced with an ever-growing opposition against the deal, the European Commission is struggling to sell TTIP to the public. If we keep raising our voices, we can prevent corporations from becoming even more powerful than they already are.

Together we can defeat TTIP.

Thanks for all that you do,
Wiebke, Hannah, and the team at SumOfUs.org

The Paris accord is a trade agreement, nothing more. It promises to privatize, commodify and sell forested lands as carbon offsets in fraudulent schemes such as REDD+ projects. These offset schemes provide a financial laundering mechanism for developed countries to launder their carbon pollution on the backs of the global south. Case-in-point, the United States’ climate change plan includes 250 million megatons to be absorbed by oceans and forest offset markets. Essentially, those responsible for the climate crisis not only get to buy their way out of compliance but they also get to profit from it as well.” – Alberto Saldamando, Human Rights Expert & Attorney.
Paris, France – At 8am, Indigenous Peoples block took to the streets of Paris for an Indigenous Rights action to start the closing day of COP 21, hours before the final agreement was to be presented and a huge mobilization of civil society for a D12 march was to begin.

“We, Indigenous Peoples, are the redline. We have drawn that line with our bodies against the privatisation of nature, to dirty fossil fuels and to climate change. We are the defenders of the world’s most biologically and culturally diverse regions. We will protect our sacred lands. Our knowledge has much of the solutions to climate change that humanity seeks.
The morning prayer circle was moved down the street to the infamous Pont des Arts, also known across the world as the ‘Love Lock Bridge’ where Indigenous Peoples staged a direct action. Their collective message was clear – “People discuss ‘red lines’, we are the red line. We are the keepers of the land, protectors of animals, the seas, the air. We are the solution.”

“Our planet is hotter. The seas are rising. Our communities are facing reality that we may have to move, we have winter wildfires happening in the Arctic. We are out of time. Any solutions that do not talk about cutting emissions at the source, or keeping fossil fuels in the ground, are false solutions.
At noon, Indigenous peoples joined in solidarity with the global D12 REDLINE action at Arc de Triomphe.
“Here at the COP21 they are proposing false solutions to the climate crisis, they are proposing a commodification of the sacred, they want to put a price on the air we breathe. They want to go into other countries, displace our Indigenous brothers and sisters, so that they in the US can continue killing our people. We are the frontlines, we are the red lines” – Kandi Mossett (Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, North Dakota) speaking at the march.

During the march, a traditional Ponca cradleboard was presented to the people of Paris. The cradleboard represents future generations and was carried by Casey Camp-Horinek (Ponca Nation, Oklahoma, USA) who spoke at the march – “We come here with a present for Paris, we know what happened on November 13. We Indigenous people know how that feels to have someone kill the innocent ones. We offer this symbol in memory of lives lost, and we thank-you for hosting us on this sacred day.”

Cultivating Climate Justice

This four-part article series “Cultivating Climate Justice” tells the stories of community groups on the frontlines of the pollution, waste and climate crises, working together for systems change. United across six continents, these grassroots groups are defending community rights to clean air, clean water, zero waste, environmental justice, and good jobs. They are all members of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives.

GAIA is a worldwide alliance of more than 800 grassroots groups, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in over 90 countries whose ultimate vision is a just, toxicfree world without incineration. GAIA's greatest strength lies in its membership, which includes some of the most active leaders in environmental health and justice struggles internationally.

Worldwide, we are demonstrating how to stop incinerators, address climate change and environmental injustice, and implement zero waste alternatives. GAIA's members work through a combination of grassroots organizing, strategic alliances, and creative approaches to local economic development.

This series is produced in collaboration with Other Worlds. Other Worlds inspires hope and knowledge that another world is possible, and helps build it by shedding light on political, economic, social, and environmental alternatives that are flourishing throughout the world. The series can be viewed online on GAIA’s blog, www.zerowasteworld.org ;

Biography: Kate Macdonald

Prior to founding TimeBank Hull and East Riding, Kate had worked in mental
health as a researcher, developing services (the early psychosis service in
Hull and Manchester) and as a consultant for the Care Services Improvement
Partnership (in North and West England) and the National Mental Health
Development Unit (NMHDU). She had seen timebanking as a route to young
people with psychosis and their families reconnecting to their community
focusing on strengths as well as needs. However, in 2011, when the
recession was starting to reveal its full impact in Hull she realised that
the focus should change. The importance of having a role when jobs are
scarce and being able to contribute (and how this links with positive
mental wellbeing); the opportunity to make money go further through sharing
skills and resources; having opportunities to network and connect with new
friends, all seemed essential at that point and the mechanism of timebanking
seemed to be the key to enable this to happen. The TimeBank literally
started in a garden shed with no money just a gut feeling that the people
would come and any money needed to make it happen would follow. Kate will
talk about what happened from this point, the steps she took, and where the
TimeBank is today. Kate is particularly pleased to be visiting Derry as the
previous City of Culture, with Hull taking on the mantle in 2017.

Email your MP

On 14 September 2015, EU ministers will hold emergency talks on the refugee crisis.

If we can get enough MPs voicing their support in the run-up to the meeting, there’s a chance the UK government will adopt the fundamentally more effective and humane policy on refugees that is required.

Your local MP is there to represent you and your opinions at government-level. It’s vital that they know you care and want to support people fleeing conflict and persecution.

Take action now through this Amnesty International campaign.

UK parliament petition

The campaign group 38 Degrees have invited people in the UK to start petitions in their own council areas showing local levels of support and welcome for people fleeing their homes. Sign here if you live in the Derry City and Strabane District.

She is a member of An Taisce's Climate Committee and coordinator of the People’s Energy Charter. She became involved in the environmental movement via the transition movement 8 years ago and now contributes to energy, climate and development policy at local, regional and national level. As a single, unemployed, mother of 5, having worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors and lived in urban, semi rural and rural Ireland, Theresa has a good awareness of the diverse considerations in policy making. As a systems analyst she has an insightful understanding of development and is passionate about public participation and its critical role in sustainable development.

From 2008-2011 Eimhin David Shortt suffered repeated hospitalisation and surgery with an inconclusive diagnosis of acute Chrons/IBS. Exasperation with the western medical approach, coupled with a steady decline in health and quality of life, led him to India, to the Rajastani desert to live with an Ayurvedic doctor who restored a balance through a strict dietary regimen. During "the horizontal period", with stints in hospital lasting up to 5 months at a time, internet access inadvertently matched Eimhin's personal healing process with one of experiential learning as he observed the daily emergence of the networked commons, the remoulding of capital interest globally, and the emergence of new expressions of enterprise, cooperativism, open process, and the commons. On returning from treatment and practice in India, Eimhin became a "serial volunteer", enabled by his 'A38' special dispensation to be mobile and to help with events in the area of social enterprise, impact investment, European project writing, cooperative development, open source web and process development, networked community strategies, and so on. After taking a voluntary internship with the Social Capital Markets in San Francisco and observing shortcomings in that culture, along with a feeling of urgent necessity with regard to both his own health and the national Irish situation in this regard, Eimhin returned home to begin work with (trans)local food systems. Today Eimhin is based in Birr Co.Offaly where he coordinates a local food project inclusive of a community food commons with socio-environmentally, entrepreneurial, and open cooperative aspirations. His work and that of those at the Growery and affiliated networks, weaves the local, national, and the trans-nationally networked cultures. His 'accidental' advocacy for BI is one wrought of a simultaneously painful and yet hugely rewarding experience and one that can hopefully shed some light on key points as to why Basic Income is a good idea for everyone.

Click Here To Book Your Ticket Now

Wicklow in 2011 between 200 & 300 people have attended the gathering each year since. It is a weekend camp in a private location to support the development of Permaculture in Ireland & Northern Ireland by providing an opportunity to network, celebrate and learn together. It is not a passive event laid on by others, but rather an active participatory gathering which is co-created by a year team and camp attendees. People come and host talks and workshops, share skills and information and participate in this dynamic community event. The gathering steering group formed from past gathering members works to give continuity from year to year.

This morning Lancashire's planning officer said the Council should allow fracking to go ahead in Preston New Road, Lancashire.

It’s hard to believe – fracking has already been halted in Scotland and Wales because of the risks to people’s health and the environment.

Pat Davis, from the Preston New Road Action Group on fracking, was right this morning when she told reporters that this is “far from over”.

Tens of thousands of local residents have written to the Council and this morning we handed in a petition of 90,000 people asking them to keep Lancashire and the UK frack free.

Lancashire Councillors now have one week to decide. This week we need to spread the message far and wide – we won’t let Lancashire be a guinea pig for risky and polluting fracking.

Please share this petition on Facebook or Twitter.

Fracking company Cuadrilla might have spent millions on public relations. But with enough people on our side we can show them that fracking will never be accepted in the UK.

Please share the petition today and make sure as many people as possible support Pat in keeping Cuadrilla and fracking out of Lancashire.

We have one week before the final decision in Lancashire – let's make some noise and make sure we're heard.

With hope,

Jenny and the fracking team
#DontFrackLancs

PS - If you're able to join us in Preston on the 23 June to make some noise in person - we'd love to see you there.

When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it’s essential that we understand it. Yet simple questions often get overlooked – questions like: where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it gets used? And what does that mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when money and finance breaks down?

97% Owned is a documentary that reveals how money is at the root of our current social and economic crisis. Featuring frank interviews and commentary from economists, campaigners and former bankers, it exposes the privatised, debt-based monetary system that gives banks the power to create money, shape the economy, cause crises and push house prices out of reach. Fact-based and clearly explained, in just 60 minutes it shows how the power to create money is the piece of the puzzle that economists were missing when they failed to predict the crisis.

The films’ title was taken from the finding that commercial Bank’s created the vast majority of money, 97%, when they create loans. For what purpose and how much is created shapes the size of the banking sector, the countries economic growth and the well being of our society.

Produced by Queuepolitely and featuring Ben Dyson of Positive Money, Josh Ryan-Collins of The New Economics Foundation, Ann Pettifor, the “HBOS Whistleblower” Paul Moore, Simon Dixon of Bank to the Future and Nick Dearden from the Jubliee Debt Campaign, this is the first documentary to tackle this issue from a UK-perspective, and can be watched online now.

To discover how a local economic model might look, come to a discussion with Matthew Slater from Community Forge http://cf6.communityforge.net/en/home

Wednesday May 6th Moville Library @ 7pm
All welcome! Refreshments provided.

Across the world, people are finding solutions that allow growth in the community without dependence on grants and the economic model that we've inherited. And they are having fun with this new found freedom!

Are Complementary Currencies the next steps in community development projects? Find out how we can discover new/under-used local resources, increase volunteerism and social cohesion, increase economic resilience, promote local self-resilience and lower environmental impact. Is it debt-free, interest-free and community owned?

Matthew Slater is a software engineer who co-founded Community Forge to support communities in setting up systems for mutual exchange. He works throughout the world, most recently in Greece. He is in Northern Ireland this week to help set up a local economy system with a community group. He will answer questions from anyone with an interest in exploring this idea.

Please share this event info & poster with friends and others you think might be interested - both online & printed for notice boards. Hope to see you on Wed. evening, May 6th at Moville Library for a cuppa and a stimulating talk!

Positive Money NI are facilitating a workshop explaining money as debt (Sunday 1pm) and also over the three days will be engaging with shoppers and workers on the main commercial street Royal Avenue. A team of volunteers wearing high visibility vests will approach people and ask

With charm and humour, the volunteers will engage anyone interested in a short conversation. They will also hand out these bank notes. One side has a cartoon strip explaining the current system and how it could be much better. The other side has information about The Opensource programme; the Positive Money and Sensible Money websites and some possible alternative currencies.

OPAL is coming to Faughan Valley on Tuesday 14, 21 and 28th April to train teachers, forest school educators and wildlife club leaders in the use of OPAL resources for the surveys listed below. These resources can be used by Key Stage 3 or adapted for teaching science to primary school children. The surveys can easily be carried out in the school environment and are great for helping children to explore their local environment and for developing observation and recording skills, literacy and numeracy.

By participating in the training you will receive all the resources you will need to complete the surveys. If your class completes one survey it is possible to achieve a Crest Discovery Award for each child, completing surveys will also gain credit towards Eco Schools Flags. The survey field notebooks and identification guides are free to download from the OPAL website at www.opalexplorenature.org

Bugs count survey – which invertebrates are brave enough to live near human habitats?
Tree health survey – carry out a tree health check. Learn what does tree disease look like.
Biodiversity survey – just who eats what in your local hedgerows?
Water survey – learn what lives in the local pond or stream and what does that tell us about water quality.
Air survey – how clean is your air? How to identify any bio-indicators such as lichens or tar spots.
Soil and earthworm survey – all you need to know about soil property and worm identification.

What is OPAL?

OPAL Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) is a community-focused education and research programme about the environment. The basic concept is to engage schools and the public in environmental research and outdoor learning, to inspire exploration and a better understanding of the places where people live and work. The OPAL project began in England in 2007, funded by the Big Lottery Fund and lead by Imperial College London in partnership with museums, Universities and environmental organisations. Free user-friendly survey packs are available to carry out scientific research in your own school grounds or nearby Park. Surveys can include topics such as bugs, air pollution and biodiversity.

In early 2014, the Field Studies Council and the School of Education, Queens University Belfast became delivery partners for OPAL in Northern Ireland. The key focus in Northern Ireland is to encourage pupils, summer camps, youth groups to complete surveys in or near their school or home.

The event will take place on Friday 20th March at the Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast.
Doors open at 7pm and tickets are £5 (purchased at the door).
This is an ALL AGES event.

The purpose of this gig is to raise awareness of fracking and the negative effects that it has both on the environment and the communities in the areas surrounding drilling sites. The main focus of the event is to bring young people together through music and unite under this key and important cause.

His New Atlas: Founded May 2013 His New Atlas (Eoghan O'Hagan) has now played all over Ireland, Northern Ireland, and England. Just over a year and the 19 year old Eoghan has built a strong name, and reputation for His New Atlas with the successful release of 3 EPs, several tours, and his restless work ethic.
"To say Eoghan O'Hagan has wisdom and songwriting ability beyond his years would be quite the ludicrous understatement given he's the same age as 'Girl from Mars' by Ash. A minimal arrangement gives his voice, full of yearning, the opportunity to truly soar. Ridiculously promising." - BBC Across the Line

Owen McGarry: Owen has his own distinctive sound and is an accomplished song writer too. He has been tipped to play bigger and better stages by several big names in the industry and has had numerous favourable reviews and radio spins from all over America, Australia and Europe including BBC Radio One.
“Owen McGarry is one of those musicians who can be described as captivating both onstage and on record. What makes him special is his ability to hold the audience in the palm of his hand through his storytelling style of music.” - Chordblossom

Runaway GO: Fronted by the dual vocal talents of Dave Jackson and Fiona O'Kane, the Belfast band bridge the gap between indie and pop, with their indie band instrumentation and their anthemic pop melodies, vocal range and harmonies. Whatever category the band are put in, the important thing for this young talented bunch is that their music is emotive and connects with their audience. Individually, four creatives but together each element they bring, through their personalities, in songwriting and during live shows, makes Runaway GO a unique unit.

Matthew Duly: Matthew Duly is a young singer-songwriter from Whitehead (Northern Ireland). He knows how to capture the crowds attention and is no stranger to the stage. He has been praised for his high energy while performing and his catchy songs. Matthew intends to deliver a range of songs, from slow, chilled and emotive songs to more hard hitting.
